In a nutshell:

Line art is is form of imagery that uses distinct, concentric or parallel lines to create a 3D image. The artwork is usually but not exclusively on a white background with a dark black detail for increased contrast. The technique does not use shading but relies on distance between lines and contouring to create the illusion of depth and light.
