In a nutshell:
One thing that is becoming exceeding more illusive and sought after in the creative industry is authenticity. It’s a buzz word, but a buzz word for good reason. Authenticity is your ability to be genuine, true to who you are, as an individual, but also as a brand. This is a wider cultural theme, but how are designers and creators attacking this problem on a micro level? One method is going backwards, way backwards, and retracing our steps, as individuals, as communities, as humans. Gothic and Blackletter influences have associations with religion, history, mystery, a feeling of legitimacy?
Gothic Blackletter has been a big movement in 2018 and no doubt going into 2019. See Hand Written for another font related authenticity movement.
